In the unlikely event of a rope, cable or strap snapping, the damper will act as a brake and absorb the energy from the recoil. In effect this means the cable will drop to the ground instead of flying back into a vehicle or person. It has long velcro strips to hold it in place, reflective strips for increased visibility and weighs 1.1kg, which meets 4WD competition standards.
