The 1KD engines have a known piston design flaw, often leading to failure. Fortunately, if the engine hasn't run extensively after the piston fails, a complete rebuild is usually unnecessary, and a repair will suffice.
Repair Process:
1. Remove the head and sump, clean and assess all parts and order kit to suit.
2. Check all associated engine clearances.
3. Clearance the rings.
4. Check all associated clearances and refit all components and torque to spec.
5. Reassemble the engine.
We recommend installing new genuine injectors, which we can supply to match your vehicle's registration. Injector coding and a pilot learn should be performed simultaneously for optimal performance.
